Short Bio

Mathew started his career in the trades. As a Journeyman Plumber/Gas fitter he was constantly curious about the theory behind this systems he worked on. In 2017 he chose to leave behind his career in the trades of 10+ years and return to university.  He graduated with a BSc Physics (First class honours) in spring 2022 from the University of Calgary after completing his honours thesis in coded aperture imaging. Now as a MSc. Student under the supervision of Daniel Oblak he studies satellite to ground quantum communication. Mathew has a particular interest in fabrication, troubleshooting, optics, and system design. He chose to go into experimental physics to feed these interests.
