Jun Zhang completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemistry from Northeast Normal University in China. He conducted his master’s research on the synthesis and properties of Polyoxometalates based functional materials in the Key Laboratory of Polyoxometalates Science of Ministry Of Education, supervised by Professor En-bo Wang. From 2014 to 2018, Jun did his PhD degree in physical chemistry with a full scholarship of University International Postgraduate Award at The University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Australia. His PhD research was supervised by Professor Hans Riesen and the project was based on the spectroscopy of rare-earth doped solid materials. His research interests on optics and laser spectroscopy will continue during his postdoctoral appointment in the Quantum Cloud Lab, where he will study rare-earth doped solid materials for quantum memory, transduction and other quantum technologies.
